The Dozer Operator is responsible for operating bulldozers and related heavy equipment to perform grading, clearing, earthmoving, and site preparation activities. This position plays a critical role in producing accurate grades, maintaining site safety, and supporting overall project efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate bulldozers (GPS and non-GPS equipped) to perform rough and fine grading
- Clear and grub land, remove debris, and strip topsoil
- Build and maintain slopes, embankments, and pads according to plans and specifications
- Spread, level, and move materials such as dirt, gravel, and rock
- Read and interpret blueprints, grade stakes, site plans, and elevations
- Work closely with project managers, foremen, and grade checkers to ensure accuracy
- Perform daily equipment inspections and routine preventative maintenance
- Identify and report mechanical issues promptly
- Maintain production goals while ensuring quality workmanship
- Follow all company and OSHA safety standards
- Keep equipment clean and job site organized
Qualifications
- 5+ years experience operating a dozer in a grading or construction environment
- Experience with GPS grade control systems preferred
- Ability to read grade stakes and site plans
- Strong understanding of earthwork, drainage, and site development
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions
- Valid driver’s license required (CDL preferred but not required)
- Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
